Push Notifications (OnTheGo)
Note: Push notifications are supported for the OnTheGo PWA experience. Platform‑wide push is planned and may not be available in all browsers/devices yet.
What Are Push Notifications?
Push notifications are alerts that appear on your device to notify you of:
| Category | Notifications |
|---|---|
| Orders | New orders assigned to you, order status changes, cancellations |
| Reminders | Upcoming appointment reminders, uncompleted orders at end of day |
| Communications | New team messages, client responses |
Setting Up Push Notifications
First Time Setup
- Go to User Profile (click your name in top right)
- Select Notifications
- Click Enable Push Notifications
- Allow notifications when prompted by your browser
Installing OnTheGo (Recommended)
For the best experience, install OnTheGo on your mobile device:
- Open OnTheGo in your mobile browser
- Look for the "Install" or "Add to Home Screen" prompt
- Tap to add it to your home screen
- OnTheGo works like an app; notifications may vary by device/browser
Managing Your Notifications
Desktop: Notification Preferences
Access via User Profile > Notifications
Master Mute Switch
Toggle Mute All to silence all push notifications at once.
Category Controls

Detailed Settings
Fine-tune specific notification types:

| New order assigned to me | Notify when an order is assigned to you |
| Order status changed | Notify when order status updates |
| Order cancelled | Notify when an order is cancelled |
| Appointment reminder | Notify 1 hour before appointment |
| Uncompleted orders at end of day | Daily summary of incomplete orders |
| New team message | Notify of new internal messages |
| Client responded | Notify when client replies to message |
OnTheGo: Quick Mute
Access via OnTheGo > Settings > Notifications
Quick mute options for field use:

| Unmute All | Receive all notifications |
| Orders Only | Only receive order-related notifications |
| Mute All | Silence all notifications |
Quiet Hours
Set "do not disturb" hours to suppress notifications during certain times:
- Go to User Profile > Notifications
- Enable Quiet Hours
- Set Start Time (e.g., 10:00 PM)
- Set End Time (e.g., 8:00 AM)
- Set your Timezone
Notifications sent during quiet hours will be silenced.
Troubleshooting
Not Receiving Notifications

Check browser permissions
- Chrome/Edge: Settings > Privacy and security > Site Settings > Notifications
- Safari: Safari > Settings > Websites > Notifications

Verify notifications are enabled
- Go to User Profile > Notifications
- Ensure "Mute All" is off
- Check individual category toggles

Make sure OnTheGo is installed (mobile)
- Installed PWAs receive notifications more reliably
- Look for OnTheGo icon on your home screen

Check Do Not Disturb (system level)
- iOS: Settings > Focus > Do Not Disturb
- Android: Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb
Notifications Too Frequent
- Enable Quiet Hours for nighttime silence
- Disable specific notification types in detailed settings
- Use Orders Only mode on OnTheGo during appointments

Privacy
- Notification preferences are stored per-user
- Only you can change your notification settings
- Device tokens are used solely for sending notifications
- You can revoke notification access anytime in your browser settings
